Our history

Giovas SA was established in the 1950s by Michael Giovas (Sr), starting off as a small bookstore in the center of Athens.

Over the years, with the company’s reigns being passed down from generation to generation, Giovas SA expanded both its customers network across Greece, as well as its products range.

With its long-standing license partnerships with world-famous brands, and with products of high quality and aesthetic, Giovas SA has evolved into one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of Toys, Back-to-School and Gift products in Greece, Europe and the Middle East.

Under the current management by Michael & Kimon Giovas, it has successfully maintained its market-leader position in the Back-To-School industry, while growing into a Group of Brands to include other sectors, such as Tourism and Energy.

Antonis Giovas takes on the company’s management

1980s

– First Distribution
– New agreements signed with major fancy-stationary companies in Europe
– Entering the photo album industry

1990s

– New headquarters at owned facilities of 2.000m²
– Entering the manufacturers industry with major license agreements
– Official Pan-European licensee for Disney

2000s

– Awarded licensee for Athens 2004 – Olympic Games merchandise
– Broadening of licensing portfolio with major world-class brands and new product categories
– New logistics center and warehouse at owned facilities of 5.000m²
– Launch of 1st Cartoon Store at “Eleftherios Venizelos” International Airport in Athens

2010s

– Michael and Kimon Giovas take on the company’s management
– New agreements with major Toy brands
– Launch of Shopping Island retail stores on board Greek ferries
– New investment in the Energy sector

2020s

– New investment in Real Estate sector with hotel facilities
– Flagship Cartoon Store moves to “Makedonia” International Airport in Thessaloniki
– Headquarters transfer to new, state-of-the-art, owned facilites of 7,000m² in Koropi
